Luke Porritt’s incredible thunderbolt in the superb 1-0 win at Trafford effectively preserved Ossett Albion’s Evo Stik status for next season.

The shock victory at one of the league’s top sides means it would take a freak set of results for Albion to be dragged back into the relegation fight.

Albion rode their luck, but defensively they were excellent with captain marvel Stef Holt earning the plaudits, along with goalkeeper Brett Souter.

Porrit hit the long range winner in the 76th minute.

Goole AFC’s hopes of avoiding the drop are still alive, despite the 1-0 home defeat to Clitheroe.

Scarborough Athletic won 2-0 at Mossley to bolster their play-offs hopes. Cameron Murray and Benny Igiehon struck for Seadogs, whose key man Adam Bolder was stretchered off.

In the Premier Division, Frickley Athletic were 2-0 by Grantham Town.
