Non League Yorkshire manager of the year Grant Black collected his award at Ossett Town’s presentation night on Saturday.
James Grayson was there to present it to Ossett’s brilliant young manager, whose team has helped herald a complete rebirth of the club.
Black told Non League Yorkshire: “I’d like to say thanks to all the people that voted and it’s a great honour to be even on the shortlist with the calibre of managers that were on there and to then win it is great.
“It was only possible with my two staff members Mick Norbury and Steve Ridley and the players who have been fantastic
“Also I’d like to say a massive thanks to Non League Yorkshire for all they do to promote clubs evenly and help boost Non League Football.”
Although the efforts of the club’s committee and supporters’ club cannot be under-estimated, Black’s leadership of the team has been unbelievable. The togetherness of the whole club was on show at Ingfield as the clubhouse was packed.
When he was appointed in February 2015, Black inherited a dreadful situation as Ossett were heading for relegation to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
Within 14 months he took them to within three minutes of the Evo Stik Premier Division – only a late Farsley Celtic equaliser denied them in the eventual play-off final defeat.
Well deserved
