Goalkeeper Phil Dobson is the new captain of Hall Road Rangers as title-winning skipper Ash Dexter has retired.

The centre-back, who was the runner-up in Non League Yorkshire’s player of the year vote, has brought the curtain down on an excellent Non League career which saw him also play for Bridlington Town and Barton Town Old Boys.

Rangers boss Dave Ricardo told Hall Road’s website: “Ash was honest enough to admit that due to personal circumstances he couldn’t perform or lead us as our captain this season.

“He will always be remembered for the man who was the cornerstone of leading us to the first ever NCEL Division One title for the club.

“On a personal note he was someone that I got on well with both at games and away from football.

“I am lucky enough to have been able to cover the gap he has left quickly and with quality.”

James Piercy takes on the vice-captaincy role.
