Ossett Town 0-1 Bradford (Park Avenue)
Ossett Town gave a credible performance against a strong Bradford (Park Avenue) side.
Grant Black’s men were defeated by an early goal from Avenue trialist Lee Knight.
It was Ossett who enjoyed the game’s first major chance as Sam Wright was presented with mountains of space to get a shot away. Former Guiseley stopper Steven Drench was equal to the effort and batted the ball away from danger with one hand.
Avenue then had a period of dominance, culminating with Knight blasting home from close range.
Ossett goalkeeper Leigh Overton then showed why he was one of the best stoppers in the Evo Stik last season when he made a magnificent save from Adam Boyes who looked set to score from close range.
The second half saw Avenue make a whole host of changes and the friendly petered out.
There were some notable faces out there though. Ex-Ossett winger Cameron Lyn came on as substitute for Avenue.
The reason why there were hundreds of women present was also explained when I’m a Celebrity and X Factor star Jake Quickenden was introduced into the fray by Ossett boss Black.
There was little wrong in Ossett’s display against higher league opposition so Black will have been pleased.
