Garforth Town 2-5 Knaresborough Town
Three goals in 15 second half minutes guided Knaresborough Town to another high-scoring pre-season victory.
It had been a tight affair until an Ollie Maude own goal put the visitors in front as half-time approached.
Lee Turner briefly drew the scores level before goals from Dom Wilson, Blaine Hobson, Sam Cook and Will Lenehan struck as Knaresborough ran riot late-on.
Adam Turner netted a late consolation for Garforth.
Even with the likes of Gregg Anderson and Jim Bradley missing, and Steve Bromley on the bench, Knaresborough were solid.
Not much can be read into Garforth’s display as Paul Hagreen, captain marvel James Beaston and a couple more mainstays were unavailable.
There was little between the teams when Maude turned Tom Hesketh’s deep free kick into the wrong net.
The second half response from Garforth, now boosted by new talisman Calum Ward, was good. Ward won the penalty that Turner converted to equalise.
However, following a number of further changes the match drifted away from Garforth, with Knaresborough taking control.
Paul Stansfield’s men will do well if they take their ruthlessness into the new season.
The pick of the goals – from Wilson, Hobson, Cook and Lenehan – was captain Lenehan’s 30-yard drive. Lenehan was certainly delighted with his effort as ran a further 20 yards and into the arms of Stansfield.
