Penistone Church 2-1 Brighouse Town
New Penistone Church star Nathan Keightley struck both goals as Penistone Church toppled Evo Stik side Brighouse Town.
Church fully deserved their victory over a Brighouse side which was a mixture of trialists and a handful of players who have already signed.
Brighouse went close on a couple of occasions early doors, but Church had looked dangerous leading up Keightley scoring with a low finish ten minutes before half-time.
Penistone controlled the bulk of the second half. Brighouse came under a lot of pressure and there was an air of certainty about a second Penistone goal. The warning signs were there when Jordan Coduri’s powerful drive was palmed for a corner.
Eventually the bow broke. Church’s young sorcerer’s apprentice Ryan Smith did the hard work with a great run down the left and cross for Keightley who could not miss.
Trialist Callum Robinson scored a late penalty for Brighouse.
