Toolstation NCEL Division One
Neil Sibson is confident that Yorkshire Amateur are hitting their “peak” as the big Toolstation NCEL kick off looms.
The much-fancied Ammers begin with a home clash against Eccleshill United and joint manager Sibson is convinced his side are ready.
The Ammers ended their pre-season calendar with the 2-1 home defeat to Albion Sports – a defeat that Sibson was not concerned with.
“We had a lot of chances and I think we were the better side, that’s not being bias,” Sibson told Non League Yorkshire.
“We caught out twice, but they were minor faults that we can fix. Going forward we looked dangerous and created chance after chance. We possibly could have had two or three goals.
“We played well and I said to the lads at the first pre-season game at Silsden that I’m looking for improvement in each game and when we get to our first league game against Eccleshill that I’m looking for us to peak.
“I think we’re on track for that. We have gradually improved in each game. We’ve got a 20 man squad and we can’t wait for it to start.”
The Ammers have raised many eyebrows this summer with a string of headline signings – most notably Ash Flynn – thanks to their sponsorship deal with local firm Southerns.
And Sibson has confirmed that the Ammers have not finished in the transfer market.
“There could be a couple more signings as we are going to look and strengthen this week,” he said.
“If not, we’ll go with what we have got.”
