Sam Jones took home the match-ball as Hemsworth Miners Welfare began their league campaign in stunning fashion with a 7-2 victory at Clipstone.
The Wells had the points sown up by the hour mark as they had come from behind to take a 4-1 lead thanks to strikes from Jones (2), Chris Ovington and wing wizard Richard Collier.
Collier, Billy Law and Jones increased Hemsworth’s lead in the final ten minutes.
Mikey Dunn scored two quick-fire goals in the dying minutes to give Pontefract Collieries a winning start upon their return to the top-flight.
The Colls beat Staveley Miners Welfare 3-1 at Beechnut Lane – Ash Emmett had earlier cancelled out Kurtis Morley’s opener for Staveley.
In Division One, Hallam lost 2-0 at Shirebrook Town.
Liversedge made it through in the Emirates FA Cup as they saw off Armthorpe Welfare with a 5-3 victory.
Goals from Devonte Morton (2), Roy Fogarty, Brandon Kane and Steve Wales guided ‘Sedge through.
Craig Aspinall, Wayne Brook and an own goal from James Waggett were on Armthorpe’s score-sheet.
