Luke Kitson made a block of epic magnitude in Garforth’s 1-1 draw with Hemsworth

Garforth Town and Hemsworth Miners Welfare had to settle for a share of the spoils in the 1-1 draw in East Leeds.

The wind played a major part and that showed in Hemsworth’s opener as Sam Jones’ free kick from the left deceived Pete Lawrie – mainly because of the conditions.

The blowing gale was in Garforth’s favour in the second half and the pendulum soon swung their way. Hemsworth defender Jack Steers pulled back Lee Turner in needless circumstances and saw red. From the free kick, Danny Rusling saved Mitch Hamilton’s effort, but Turner was on hand to score the rebound.

Both teams had their moments as the game closed out. Garforth left-back Luke Kitson threw his body on the line and made a block of epic magnitude to deny Billy Law, who probably thought he had scored.

Regan Fish made the best break for Garforth. The lively attacker travelled some distance, showing great skill, before passing to Sean Hunter who straight at Rusling.

Maltby Main were defeated by a last minute goal in the 3-2 defeat at Rainworth Miners Welfare. Lee Hill and Ross Duggan scored for Maltby.

Joseph Hughes hit a hat-trick as Thackley put four past Barton Town without reply. Mike Garrod was also on the score-sheet.
