Nathan Smith was Nostell’s hat-trick hero
Nathan Smith’s superb hat-trick helped Nostell Miners Welfare continue their remarkable turnaround in fortunes with the magnificent victory at Armthorpe Welfare.
You wait months and months for a win and two come along in a week. That’s what has happened at Nostell, whose manager Des Hazel is certainly gaining the plaudits.
Two first half goals set Nostell on the path to victory. Billy Mole crossed for Smith to head home the opener. The striker then blasted one home on the stroke of half-time to double the lead.
Armthorpe got one back through Gary Collier before Jamie Miller teed up Smith for his hat-trick.
Inevitably there was a nervy finale, caused by Collier’s second goal, but Nostell held on to move up into the mid-table area.
