Toolstation NCEL Premier Division
Reliable right-back Sam Leach has swapped Garforth Town for Wayne Benn’s Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Leach lost his place in Rob Hunter’s Garforth side at the beginning of the season and he has been unable to reclaim it.
He was a popular player at Garforth, having won the Ralph Backhouse Trophy at the club’s presentation last season. It was a deserved award for someone who only started playing semi-professional football last year. He had been the only player out of 40 to win a deal with Garforth after open trials.
Away from football, Leach is one of three social entrepreneurs who are leading an exciting project which will bring a derelict part of York city centre to life.
Spark:York will provide a space for people to meet friends, eat, drink and socialise. There will retail shops and areas for businesses to rent space as well. The area will consist of upcycled shipping containers, arranged over two levels.
The project, similar to successful one in London and across Europe, has raised thousands of pounds.
Good luck to Sam at his new club , I know that Sam was well thought of by the supporters of Garforth , I for 1 Am sorry to see him go .a decent lad and a talented full back
Thanks for your kind words Gary, been a pleasure playing for Garforth; a superb club. Thanks for your continued support while at the club from you and Andrew, was always appreciated.
