Tadcaster Albion 0-1 Ossett Town

Ossett Town’s Danny South scored the winning penalty

Danny South’s controversial first half penalty put resolute ten man Ossett Town on the periphery of the play-offs after a backs-to-the-wall victory at Tadcaster Albion.

The game hinged four action-packed minutes just before the half-hour mark. The initial key moment came when Tadcaster goalkeeper Michael Ingham was adjudged to have fouled Kai Hancock in the penalty area.

Replays have since suggested the spot kick award was harsh. Not that Ossett will be bothered as South tucked the penalty home by sending Ingham the wrong way.

Within 60 seconds, Ossett were reduced to ten men as Issac Assenso was dismissed for bringing down Tom Corner. However, Ossett were soon celebrating as their great goalkeeper Leigh Overton denied Aiden Savory from 12 yards.

As usual with Grant Black’s men, it was against the odds from there on, but as usual they stepped up to the plate to deny Tadcaster – soaking up everything that was thrown at them in order to secure a memorable victory.
