AFC Emley have signed striker Nathan Perks. Perks makes the move from Toolstation NCEL Division One rivals Pontefract Collieries. Glasshoughton Welfare were hoping to sign the forward, but Perks has chosen his destination as Darren Hepworth’s Emley. Perks has also played for Mark Jackson’s Farsley AFC under 19 academy team. Garforth Town’s squad for the Toolstation Premier Division campaign is almost ready. Curtly Martin-Wyatt, Ben Hunter, Adam Jordan are the latest players to sign on the dotted line. Striker Martin-Wyatt and tall goalkeeper Ben Hunter return from last season, while Jordan is a wide player or striker who has been playing Barnsley’s youth team. Striker Luke Hinsley has returned to Goole AFC from Frickley Athletic. Hinsley is one of ten further players who Goole have announced have signed for the Victoria Pleasure Grounds club. Chris Adam, Tyler Wilkinson, Derry Robson, Anton Foster, James Cottingham, Muhammed Sabo, David Taylor and Richard Adams have all re-signed for Goole. Dan Wilkinson has arrived from Loughborough University.
Former Nostell chief Alan Colquhoun has been promoted from assistant to manager at Liversedge
Liversedge have bizarrely officially revealed their new management team weeks after their actual appointment. Liversedge parted company with David Thompson at the end of a season which could be summed up as almost disastrous. Thompson was their third manager after James Riordan’s initial period as caretaker manager upon the resignation of Eric Gilchrist last October. After ‘safe pair of hands’ Gilchrist left, Liversedge’s form was awful and they won just five more Premier Division games. If Gilchrist had’t picked up a good number of points and the teams in the bottom two hadn’t been so poor, ‘Sedge would have probably been relegated. Now with just over two weeks to go until their first game at home to Cleethorpes, ‘Sedge have decided to reveal to rest of the football world who their new manager actually is. Long-serving Nostell Miners Welfare boss Alan Colquhoun, who was Thompson’s assistant, has been promoted. Colquhoun will be assisted by his old Nostell number two Mark Greaves. Greaves was also previously the Yorkshire Amateur and Farsley AFC reserve team manager.
