Handsworth Parramore have pulled off a coup by signing utility player Scott Maxfield.
Maxfield is arguably one of the biggest captures in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division this summer having arrived at Handsworth from Conference North side Bradford (Park Avenue).
Maxfield has played at Hull City, Doncaster Rovers, Barrow and Stalybridge, but is best known for five year association with Buxton.
Towards the end of his spell at Silverlands, he also served as the club’s player-manager for ten games before moving onto Avenue.
Parramore manager Russ Eagle said: “Scott is a fantastic signing for this club.
“I’ve worked hard for a number of weeks in securing such a prized asset.
“Scott has seen what we are building here and has heard good things about the set up and the quality of the young players we are nurturing
“The vision and foundation of the club has been instrumental in securing the services of Scott.
“His experience and quality will be vital in a long hard season and I’m so pleased to be able to bring such quality to the club.”
Handsworth’s club development manager Steve Holmes also confirmed that the vast majority of last season’s squad has been retained for the forthcoming season.
Holmes said: “We have worked hard to ensure that we kept the nucleus of last years successful squad.
“Inevitably some players have moved on and we thank them for their services last season and wish them well in the forthcoming season.
“With the quality additions Russ has made together with the strong retained list we believe we are building a squad to compete on all fronts.
“The youth system here at Handsworth ensures we have a constant conveyor belt of talent adding a youthful blend to a competitive squad.”
