Chris Gowen has left Armthorpe

Experienced left back Chris Gowen has decided to leave Armthorpe Welfare due to travelling and having a young family.

Manager Mike Carmody said: “I’d like to thank Chris for all his efforts for the club, he’s really given everything for me. He has a very professional attitude and I’d like to wish him well with whatever he decides to do. He has had a superb non league career playing at some top clubs and he’ll always be welcome at Armthorpe Welfare.”

Gowen said, “Although results, especially last year, weren’t great I still thoroughly enjoyed my 12 months at the club and want to wish Mick, Ben and Stevie along with all the players, supporters and everyone at the club all the best for the future and hopefully see them back in the Premier Division.

“I took great pride in being handed the captaincy and leading the team out for the first part of the season.”
