Selby Town are gearing up for their biggest battle of the modern era – the West Riding County Cup final against Evo Stik Premier Division side Farsley Celtic tomorrow night.
The County Cup final – their first in 25 years – is a massive reward for the club’s hard-working volunteers who have kept Selby going through a number of difficult years on-the-pitch.
Christian Fox, hailed as Selby’s Messiah by chairman Ralph Pearse in December, has restored pride in Selby and driven them to heights no-one expected him to.
Keyboard warriors wrote his young superheroes off as relegation fodder last July. Instead Selby have challenged for the play-offs, a feat that now looks too much of a big ask as the wet weather has completely stalled any opportunity of gathering momentum.
His fearless side will feel quietly confident of overcoming holders Farsley. They have already caused there major upsets by beating higher league opponents Bradford (Park Avenue), FC Halifax Town and Tadcaster Albion so playing Farsley will not faze them.
The final is being played at Fleet Lane, the West Riding County FA headquarters.
Good luck Selby. Can’t make it to Woodlesford, but I will be glued to twitter.
Good luck Selby tonight from all supporters in Spain
