Connor and Calan Rollinson have been waiting to face-off in the ‘Show Your Support for Luce’ game since February. The match is now play-offs chasing Glasshoughton’s biggest since the glory days under their greatest manager Craig Elliott
The Rollinson brothers are hoping that the long-awaited ‘Show Your Support For Luce’ game finally takes place at Worsbrough Bridge tomorrow night.
Connor and his Glasshoughton Welfare colleagues are due in town for the final game of the regular season to face his brother Calan’s Worsbrough.
The match is being used to raise money for Bloodwise and raise awareness of the symptoms of acute myeloid leukaemia – a severe form of the disease that their “Mam” Lucille Rollinson has been battling since October.
It promises to be an emotional night. Connor’s Pontefract Pirates Juniors are going to be the Glasshoughton mascots and will walk out with them for kick off at Park Road.
The warm-up t-shirts (emblazoned with ‘Showing Our Support For Luce’ on) and collection buckets have been in storage since February and are ready to be finally used.
Lots of fantastic raffle prizes have also been donated, including one from National Law firm Irwin Mitchell.

The match also happens to be Glasshoughton’s biggest since the Craig Elliott glory days as the Castleford-based side can secure a top six place with a victory.
Elliott, to some Glasshoughton’s greatest ever manager, guided Welfare back to the Premier Division in 2012 after a final day 3-2 victory at AFC Emley. His side were trailing by two goals with half-an-hour before a comeback ended with Steven Bennett scoring the promotion-clinching goal with six minutes to go.
Darren Holmes and Lee Vigars will hope that tomorrow is not as dramatic. Worsbrough are safe from relegation, ironically thanks to a goal from the caped crusader Calan.
