Former Pontefract Collieries development manager Ian Burchnall is in caretaker charge of Ostersunds, whilst the search for Graham Potter’s permanent successor continues.
Potter, who left former NCEL club Leeds Carnegie to take the helm of the Swedish side a number of years ago, is the new manager of Swansea City.
Burchnall will oversee at least two matches as Ostersunds decide their next move. Potter is a hard act to follow as he led the club from the fourth division to the top and into the Europa League in which they beat Galatasaray and Arsenal.
Burchnall has previously managed Norwiegan side Viking and also acted as former Leeds United striker Brian Deane’s assistant at Sarpsborg.
The 35-year-old held the football development manager’s position at Pontefract during the great Simon Houghton era at the turn of the decade.
