Star Selby Town striker Sam Cable has chosen to test himself in the Evo Stik East after rejoining Frickley Athletic.
Cable has scored 13 goals this season, including the incredible header against Kendal Town in the FA Cup first qualifying round tie – a goal that goes down as one of the most memorable in Selby’s recent history.
Selby boss Christian Fox has proved to be an excellent mentor and coach for him as he rarely featured until the latter part of last season. But after a lot of hard work, Cable became a key member of Fox’s swash-buckling side.
He rejoins a Frickley team managed by John Stancliffe, having previously played for the first team during the Lee Morris era.
Selby manager Fox told Non League Yorkshire: “Sam has been brilliant for us and I believe myself and my management team have improved him as a player as he makes the step-up to the Evo Stik.
“It is really pleasing to see where he is now as a player to when he first came. Last season he struggled to get a game, but this season, if you take out the suspension, he has been ever-present, scoring lots of goals and setting many up too.
“I wish him all the best and he’s always welcome back at Selby.”
Sad to see him go, but well done and thank you Sam.
Hopefully Christian has another cab off the rank ready.
