Cult hero Curtly Martin-Wyatt and former Harrogate Railway centre-back Mike Morris have signed forms with Garforth Town, with a week to go until the big Toolstation NCEL Premier Division kick-off.
Martin-Wyatt has scored prolifically in pre-season and seems to be replicating the performances he displayed during the 2015/16 season when his goals ensured Garforth avoided relegation.
After two years away, he returned last summer, but struggled to break into the side. This season sees him join a strike-force that already contains deadly pairing Adam Priestley and Mark Simpson.
Defender Morris has played in Garforth’s last three pre-season friendlies. He is best known for his Terry Butcher-like displays in the great Billy Miller Railway side of 2015.
He has also turned out for Knaresborough since 2015. Last season he went back to Railway to help the ultimately unsuccessful attempt to avoid relegation.
Ahead of the opening game at home to Handsworth next week, the Miners have also signed right-back Carlton Pownall – the former Shelley and Eccleshill United player.
Pownall has extra NCEL experience from playing for Nostell during the short Chris Ellerby era.
