Penistone Church attacker Sam Scrivens has joined National North outfit Guiseley.
Scrivens scored over 30 times as Penistone finished up as runners-up in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division last season. He had already trialled for Partick Thistle and Chesterfield in pre-season.
He now has his big chance in the National North, following in the footsteps of Handsworth left-back Brad Nicholson who joined Guiseley at the beginning of the month.
Scrivens first appeared on the Non League scene at Emley and has enjoyed a meteoric rise. He is now a great role model for current NCEL players who want to play at the highest levels of Non League football and beyond.
The move is also another feather to Ian Richards and Penistone’s bow having a player move up three Divisions.
Penistone have a big week ahead of them as their FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round replay with Skelmersdale United takes place on Wednesday night.
Shaun Mundy’s late equaliser in Friday’s 1-1 draw dragged Skelmersdale over to Penistone.
