Joe Kenny’s double helped Liversedge secure their first three points of the season with the 4-3 win over Barton Town in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
Kenny scored twice – a close range finish and a header – in the opening 15 minutes, but then Barton were level by the half-hour mark as Ben Hinchliffe hit two goals.
The critical goals were scored around the hour mark. Alfie Raw’s penalty placed them back in front before Craig Disley scored an own goal.
Hinchliffe completed his hat-trick to set up a nervy finale, but Jonathan Rimmington’s men held on.
Hemsworth Miners Welfare came from behind to beat Eccleshill United 4-1 in Fitzwilliam.
Wayne Benn’s men endured a problematic start as key centre-back Harry Viggars was forced off after sustaining a nasty wound above one of his eyes. It meant new striker Luke Danville dropped back into defence.
In the meantime Antony Brown put Eccleshill in front.
The Wells quickly levelled when Jason Yates pounced on the rebound from Ryan Carroll’s saved head.
Hemsworth goalkeeper Jordan Greaves then saved a penalty from Brown after Yates’ handball.
From there on, Hemsworth never looked back. Eddie Cass finished from Danville’s knock-down for the second goal.
Matthew Hughes scored an easy goal after Carroll’s shot hit the post. Carroll eventually got on the scoresheet in the 70th minute.
Khurram Shazad’s double earned Silsden a 2-1 win over Maltby Main. Waide Fairhurst got Maltby’s goal.
Handsworth and Knaresborough Town finished goal-less.
