Nostell Miners Welfare have been left devastated after their eagerly-anticipated local derby with Worsbrough Bridge was postponed after the worst period of rain this year struck the nation.
Nostell had been really looking forward to the opportunity of ending their poor run and were confident of putting Worsbrough to the sword.
The club have also missed out on a bumper payday, but considering large parts of Yorkshire have been hit by terrible flash flooding, the postponement is no surprise.
The pitch is waterlogged, but players, officials and spectators could have endured major traffic problems too.
The monsoon-like conditions are set to continue for another 24 hours and further Toolstation Northern Counties East League matches are expected to be called off.
Clubs whose pitches are in bad way or are near rivers are likely to have their matches postponed.
