Rob Hunter is set to bring reinforcements into his threadbare Glasshoughton Welfare team, writes James Grayson.
Glasshoughton lost 2-1 to Albion Sports at Leeds Road today to end a four match Toolstation NCEL Premier Division winning streak.
Dalton Harris may have continued his hot-streak with a goal, but his side is down to the barebones. Highly-rated left-back Dave Ward has been ruled out for the season, while Joel Freeston and Grieg McGrory are also on the treatment table.
James Beaston is facing a three-match ban for his red card in the Armthorpe Welfare victory and club captain Darrell Young is on the periphery of a two-game suspension for ten yellow cards.
Hunter said: “I’ve put seven days in on about five players in the last few weeks because I knew we would be losing a few players.
“We’ve also got John Hirst going to Australia in December for the rest of the season so the squad is a little bit depleted. We lost Calum Ward, Darol Lucas and we’re going to lose our central midfielders through suspension.
“The squad is all of a sudden going from 17 or 18 and down to 13 or 14. I do need to look at bringing a couple of new players into the squad, certainly a central midfielder and another centre-half.”
Paul Marshall’s beard is set to get even hairier after leaders Tadcaster Albion won 4-0 at Pickering Town.
