Former Glasshoughton Welfare goalkeeper Mat Zaniewski has joined Goole AFC.
Zaniewski is the first major signing made by Lutel James and Les Nelson this summer and he brings strength, quality and huge experience to an important position.
The Polish stopper was Non League Yorkshire’s NCEL Division One goalkeeper of the season during the 2017/18 campaign as his stellar performances were vital to Glasshoughton finishing in the play-offs spots.
Although he has been on the books at Shaw Lane as Jon Stewart’s understudy (during the 2016/17 season) and briefly Yorkshire Amateur and Harrogate Railway, Glasshoughton has been mainly his ‘home’ for the last three years.
Nelson said: “Matt is a presence between the sticks and is proven at this level and higher. He’s a very good keeper and an extremely fit lad and will give confidence to the players in front of him.”
