Toolstation NCEL Division One Round-Up
Nostell Miners Welfare claimed their first league win of the Ian Walker era, while Harrogate Railway pulled off an Herculean effort to come back to draw 4-4 at Winterton Rangers.
Nostell survived a second half fight-back from Armthorpe Welfare to win 4-2 at Crofton Community Centre.
Brett Smith’s penalty was the opening gambit of a dream first half which saw Nostell race into a 3-0 lead. Goalkeeper Lee Kelsey also saved Armthorpe’s Adam Baskerville’s penalty.
Harvey Walker extended Nostell’s lead by scoring twice. By the hour mark Armthorpe were back in it through Sean Dickinson and Baskerville.
3-2 is how it remained until Nathan Hawkhead sealed the points for Nostell late-on.
Epic is probably the best way to describe Harrogate’s 4-4 draw at Winterton Rangers.
Railway began the game in perfect fashion as young starlet Joe Crosby and captain Dan McDaid placed them 2-0 ahead by the half-hour mark. However, former Selby Town striker Josh Walker ensured Winterton were level by half-time.
Walker completed his treble straight after the break. His brother Dan then seemingly put the game beyond Railway by scoring Winterton’s fourth.
But in the last 15 minutes, Harrogate came up with an unlikely comeback. Crosby provided the way back with the third before Kieran Greenway struck the equaliser.
