Toolstation NCEL Division One Round-Up (1)
Every old dog has its day and evergreen Mike Morris had his for Harrogate Railway on Saturday after scoring twice to fire Mick O’Connell’s troops to their first league win of the campaign.
Morris, one of two throwbacks from the great Billy Miller era in the Railway squad, was the hero of Station View as his late header completed the unbelievable turnaround and enabled Railway to beat Worsbrough Bridge 3-2.
Worsbrough’s defeat is the final chapter of the Lee Morris era as his resignation was announced shortly after the final whistle.
Worsbrough enjoyed a dream start to the contest with summer signing Sam Agar scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes – one from the penalty spot.
Railway started mounting pressure towards the end of the first half and Morris’s close range header painted a potential roadmap back into it.
O’Connell continued to knock on the door after the break and young prodigy Joe Crosby produced another a top corner stunner from the edge of the area to level proceedings up.
Another Morris header put Railway ahead and that was enough for them. Although they did have chances as Crosby hit the post and crossbar in separate chances.
Kieran Watson scored four as Hallam overpowered East Hull 5-2 at Sandygate.
Watson’s hat-trick was completed by the 22nd minute – a total of 19 minutes. Hallam were 4-0 up by this stage as Steven Woolley had also scored. Sam Scott and Ali Aydemir reduced the deficit before Watson added his fourth late-on.
Louis Kirk, Niall Tilsley and Jamie Forrester were the conquerers of Dronfield Town in North Ferriby’s 3-0 victory.
Glasshoughton Welfare lost 3-1 at Skegness Town – Leo Holbrook hit a late consolation for Welfare.
