East helps Ferriby create new FA Vase memories

FA Vase Round-Up (2)

Danny East sealed North Ferriby’s passage into the next round of the FA Vase

Danny East got the winner as North Ferriby created new memorable FA Vase memories after coming from behind to beat Northwich Victoria 3-2 Church Road.

Ex-Barton midfielder Louis Kirk opened the scoring in the first half with a close range.

But Chris Bolder’s Ferriby were pegged back and two quick-fire goals before the hour mark placed Northwich ahead.

Scott Phillips, the son of Ferriby’s 1997 Vase hero Dave, started the fight-back. Phillips scored a trademark goal after latching onto a knockdown from a corner.

East then won it with ten minutes to go after smashing home a penalty, but the credit goes to Levi Tarbotton. The centre-half quite incredibly made a run from the back and into the penalty area and was pushed to the ground – allowing East to be the hero.

Maltby Main eased into the next round with their 3-0 success at Cammell Laird 1907.

Jake Currie set Maltby on their way after a free kick found its way to him before half-time.

The victory was sealed late-on. Jonathan Williams converted a penalty after Mitch Dunne was felled.

Substitute Steve Hopewell leapt off the bench to add the third. Hopewell broke clear on goal and kept his composure to score.

Selby Town were beaten 3-0 at North West Counties giants 1874 Northwich, while Glasshoughton Welfare lost 3-1 Irlam – Joe Milner got their late consolation goal.
