Morris reunited with Thornton and Race

Armthorpe Welfare’s Joe Thornton

New Armthorpe Welfare manager Lee Morris has been reunited with Joe Thornton and Sam Race.

Morris’ association with close associate Joe Thornton goes back some years – to their days together on the front-line of Shaw Lane’s attack.

The pair helped the Ducks win the 2014/15 Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and also reach the FA Vase quarter-finals.

Thornton, a versatile player who has been an occasional star goalkeeper during his memorable career, has since played under Morris at Goole AFC, Frickley Athletic and Worsbrough Bridge. He leaves Emley to join up with him again.

Midfielder Race joins from Worsbrough.

Armthorpe have also confirmed the departure of defender Conner Williamson to Rossington Main.

This is the way to Wembley Joe! Lee Morris runs away from Joe Thornton after scoring the winner for Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the FA Vase fifth round win over Flackwell in 2015
