Maltby Main have added attacking midfielder Jamie Austin to their ranks.
Austin leaves Toolstation NCEL Division One side Parkgate to play Premier Division football at Muglet Lane. He has previously played for the club’s reserves four years ago.
Austin’s stint with Parkgate has only been short as he joined them not long before the November lockdown following a 18 month association with Handsworth.
He’ll be remembered at Parkgate for his hat-trick in the win over Armthorpe Welfare and his double in the beating of Campion.
The capture strengthens Louis Axcell’s threadbare Maltby squad. Axcell has done a remarkable so far considering the number of injuries and people having to self-isolate during the first six weeks of the campaign.
He rarely had many substitutes for matches and he even had to play striker Jonathan Hill in goal in two games. If you look at the victory, Garforth Town, his two only substitutions were used in the first half because of injuries.
But despite the trials and tribulations, Maltby are competing at the top end of the league and reached the second round of the FA Vase where they were beaten by Northern League giants Consett.
