Gary Allanson says Bridlington Town have to “bounce back” from their FA Vase woes when they return to Toolstation NCEL Premier Division action tonight.
Bridlington head to Armthorpe Welfare, who are bottom of the table after losing all four of their opening games.
Bridlington themselves have demons to rest after their 5-2 humbling to Albion Sports in the FA Vase first qualifying round on Sunday afternoon.
Allanson said: “It was the first blip and we always knew that it was going to come and now we are looking at how we are going to react from that.
“We have to bounce back (tonight). We have a big game in the FA Cup on Saturday and we have to make sure everyone is right and ready to go.
“It’s starts tonight. I’m not doing the old cliches like one game at a time, but after a performance like Sunday, that’s how we have got to get ourselves back into shape again.
“Armthorpe will be a wounded animal. They have pace up-top and we have had them watched and they have a lot of pace out wide so we have to be really careful.”
Bridlington’s trip to Throstle Nest on Sunday began in the worse possible manner.
Two Karl Hall goals in the opening ten minutes left Bridlington with a mountain to climb and Danny Facey then added a third goal on 43 minutes.
Ombeni Ruhanduka gave Allanson’s men a lifeline on the stroke of half-time, but James Firth increased Albion’s lead after the break.
Ruhanduka scored again for Brid – whose bad day was rounded off by Alex Cusack’s last minute goal.
Allanson said: “I think how we started the match left us chasing the game and defensively as a team we were poor.
“Having said that, going forward we played really well. We had some good chances and the game could have been 8-7, 9-8.
“Everything time we went through we looked like we were going to score. We just missed the chances.
“I don’t know why we struggled defensively. Give Albion credit, they have some good wide players and Danny Facey up-top and the big ten won the flick-ons.
“We were poor and we were poor in how we adapted to deal with it.”
