Kieran Scargill hit a hat-trick as Athersley Rec knocked Shaw Lane Aquaforce out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup in a game watched by over 700 people

Over 700 people turned out to see holders Athersley Recreation to knock their local rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup with a 6-3 extra time victory.
Aquaforce finished the eagerly-anticipated game with nine men due to two injuries during the extra half-hour of the tie which ended 2-2 after 90 minute.
Kieran Scargill was hailed as the hero for Athersley as the midfielder scored a hat-trick.
Danny Joynes (2) and Josh Moore were also on the score-sheet for Athersley.
Former Athersley star Joe Thornton and Lee Morris (2) struck for Shaw Lane.
There wasn’t as much interest in Hallam’s 2-1 win at Harworth in the other first round tie as only 20 people saw Steve Toyne’s first win as Hallam boss.
Two late goals guided Selby Town into the FA Vase second qualifying round after a 3-1 replay win over Stockport Sports.
Jamie Forrester, Alex Horsman and Dan Bunch scored.

In an end-to-end game, Eccleshill United won 5-3 at AFC Emley.
With goals from Michael Tunnacliffe, Max Leonard and Antony Brown, Emley levelled the game 3-3.
However, Doug Stevenson scored twice to book last year’s runners-up a place in the next round.
The holders Knaresborough Town are out as Brian Davey’s men lost 2-0 at Tadcaster Albion – Josh Barrett and Terry Taylor scored for Taddy.
Penistone Church lost 3-2 at Cleethorpes Town.
In the other Premier Division game, Armthorpe Welfare earned their first point of the campaign by holding Bridlington Town to a 1-1 draw.
Darren Mansaram had given Armthorpe the lead, but, Ashley Allanson ensured Brid went home with a point.
A last gasp Aaron Hardy goal earned Farsley AFC a priceless point in the 1-1 draw at Darlington 1883 in the Evo Stik Division One North.
Brighouse Town lost 4-1 at home to Spennymoor Town and Ossett Albion were trounced 4-0 at big-spending Salford City.
In the Premier Division, Frickley Athletic lost 4-0 at Buxton.
Stocksbridge Park Steels drew 0-0 at Leek Town and Goole were beaten 3-1 at Carlton Town.
