Long-serving captain Tim Hird has retired from playing, Steeton have announced.
The midfielder joined Steeton in 2013 from Silsden and has been a crucial part of the club’s rise from amateur football into Non League Football.
He was also a member of the team who played at Elland Road in the West Riding Challenge Cup in 2014.
Manager Roy Mason told Steeton’s website: “Hirdy has been a fantastic player for the club over the past eight seasons, not only on a matchday but also on the training ground.
“He always has and still is one of the fittest players at the club. His tenacity and will to win rubs off on everyone.
“It’s the end of an era and Tim is someone I have known for over 30 years. Not only has he been a great Captain, he is also a good friend, and I would personally like to thank him for all his efforts in the time he has been with us.
“He, like all other past players, will always be welcome at the club.”
On a positive note, Steeton’s squad has grown even bigger as six more players have committed to stay with the North West Counties club.
Midfielders James Wolfenden, Alex Preston and Toby Jeffrey and defenders Ben Darkins, Tyler Marsh, and Elliot Scott are the latest names to pledges their futures.
