Mick Norbury knew straightaway when he saw Jonathan Greening had signed for Tadcaster that his Maltby Main side had an even harder test
When Mick Norbury learnt of the arrival of Jonathan Greening at Tadcaster, he knew immediately that his Maltby Main side had even tougher task on their hands.
Maltby finished up losing 6-0 in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division encounter, but were mainly undone by Greening’s younger brother Josh, who scored his third consecutive hat-trick.
Norbury told Non League Yorkshire: “I was talking to Paul (Marshall) on Wednesday when he came to our game and he never mentioned it.
“I got up Friday morning and saw it and I put on my Twitter account that a hard game on Saturday has just got harder.
“I said in the dressing room to the players to not get distracted by the occasion.
“Jonathan Greening is different class. He could have stepped up three or four levels, but it is not just him, it’s the side from one to eleven.
“He’s just the icing on the cake for me.
“There is movement all over the pitch and they’ll take some stopping.”
Maltby made a good fist of the game in the first half until the younger Greening’s opening goal.
Taddy ran riot in the second half and the vastly-experienced Maltby boss added: “We did give them some scares, but in the same first 45 minutes so did they.
“My goalkeeper let six goals in, but he was man of the match.
“If Ben hadn’t been on form or do as good as he did, what score could it have been?”
