Captain fantastic Aidan Kirby grabbed two as Campion went on a first half rampage against Cleator Moor Celtic and successfully secured their first win of the campaign with a 3-1 success.
The omens looked good for the Bradford-based side as they flew out of the blocks literally as ex-Silsden forward Kirby beat the offside trap and went through beat the visiting goalkeeper in a one-on-one scenario.
The second goal had more of a build-up.
Robbie Graham teed up Jay Carney on the right wing and he crossed for midfielder Danny Keane to score from close range.
The third came from a Nicky Boshell corner.
Keane superbly jumped like a salmon at the back post to head it back across goal and Kirby nodded it over-the-line from inches out.
Jordan Little grabbed a goal for Moor in the 51st minute but it failed to inspire a comeback.
Steeton’s last minute woes continued as Roy Mason’s side were seconds away again from their first win until Bacup Borough salvaged a point in the 3-3 stalemate.
Steeton conceded a free kick on the edge of their penalty area and that was their undoing as Joe Fallon headed home the fine delivery for Bacup.
Andy Briggs’ marvellous hat-trick had put Steeton on course for victory.
The striker had given them an early 2-0 lead which was chalked off by Ryan Siddle (penalty) and Michael Gervin.
Briggs then completed his treble with ten minutes to go but it wasn’t enough.
Unbeaten Golcar United’s promotion push is looking promising following another victory.
Golcar beat Atherton LR thanks to second half goals from Ash Flynn (2), Buddy Cox.
A 95th minute goal consigned Ilkley Town to a 2-1 defeat at Chadderton.
An own goal had given Ilkley the lead but Chadderton’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time and the late winner denied Simon Armstrong’s men.
