Garforth Town have lost key man Sam Barker to Steve Roberts’ Pickering Town.
Garforth confirmed the midfielder’s move to the NPL Division One East side hours before Pickering were due to host Brighouse Town.
His climb to an NPL side is no real surprise as Barker is a quality player who was destined to play higher.
Previously he had chances with Gainsborough Trinity and Scarborough Athletic.
His final game for the Miners was the 1-0 defeat of Knaresborough Town on Saturday.
Garforth have also confirmed that they are in discussions with Liversedge over extending Charlie Marshall’s loan spell.
Marshall’s current deal expires on Friday.
Marshall, the son of Garforth boss Paul, scored the wonder goal in the Knaresborough victory.
Sam has been outstanding for Garforth in the time he has been here ,but its obvious that he has wanted to play at a higher level , good luck to him
