Ossett need a permanent replacement for Tom Taylor

The hunt is on for a new goalkeeper for Ossett Town ahead of the Doodson Sport Cup game at Darlington 1883 on Wednesday,” writes James Grayson (Twitter: @jamesAgrayson).
On-loan Ilkeston goalkeeper Rob Peet’s deal has expired after featuring in six games for Craig Elliott’s men since the departure of Tom Taylor, who since joined Farsley AFC.
Elliott said he wishes Taylor “all the best at Farsley” and says that he is exploring the possibility of keeping Peet a bit longer.
If that is not an option, Elliott has other avenues he can go down.
“Rob’s loan ended yesterday so I’m looking to extend it, it just depends on Ilkeston’s situation,” he said.
“I also have seven days in on a few lads which I can do something about this week. But, Rob has brilliant since he came. He saved a penalty yesterday and from the four or five games he played, I think he has got better every game.
“He’s a good player who has done really well so we were lucky to have him.”

Elliott did sign one player in time for yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Harrogate Railway – Garforth Town right-back Gary Stohrer.
Stohrer replaces Scott McGrory, who is moving to London. Elliott has been an admirer of Stohrer since August and once as he knew of McGrory’s impending exit, the Ossett chief made his move.
“I watched Gary twice in the Nostell Tournament and I thought he was excellent in both games,” he said.
“I had him watched twice by someone at Garforth this season and the reports have been excellent so it was a no-brainer.
“Scott has got a new job in London and Gary was someone I wanted to bring in, but while I had a right-back I didn’t want to do it.
“He had a good game yesterday.
“He’s a fit young lad who is fast and likes to join in with the attack. He’s a model full-back. His attitude was first class yesterday so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do.”
