Jonny Irving blasted home a hat-trick as Eccleshill United sent out a major title warning by ending runaway leaders Grimsby Borough’s unbeaten run with a brilliant 4-1 win.
The victory was second placed Eccleshill’s seventh consecutive league success and reduced the gap between them and Grimsby to four points.
Grimsby drew first blood with Lewis Collins scoring in the fifth minute.
But Sam Bradley equalised quite quickly and Eccleshill never looked back as Irving put them ahead before break.
The midfielder then hit two in the second half.
Garforth Town remain on the chase of Grimsby and Eccleshill after a nail-biting 2-1 victory over fancied Sherwood Colliery.
Sherwood took the lead in the eighth minute bu two-quick-fire strikers as half-time approached changed the complexion of the game.
Captain Dan Coupland equalised with low effort into the bottom corner and the red hot James Burgess hit the winner after pouncing during a scramble from a Garforth corner.
Improving Hemsworth Miners Welfare had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the home clash with AFC Mansfield.
The Wells for a long time thanks to Layton Swaine but Mansfield equalised 20 minutes from the end.
The bad news for Hemsworth is that key man Adam Wilson suffered a broken wrist.
Connor Cutts netted the winner for Maltby Main in the 2-1 victory at Knaresborough Town.
The win was Maltby’s first in four league matches.
