Finding a new centre-back is an immediate and urgent problem for Vill Powell and Brighouse Town.
Brighouse are short-staffed in that position and Powell has been defied by road blocks in his search to solve the issue.
“It is no secret that we need to strengthen at centre-back, that’s where we have injuries and where we haven’t got depth,” Powell told Non League Yorkshire.
“We missed out on a couple of targets – we couldn’t get them over the line for one reason or another.
“We have got our eye on someone who is currently recovering from an injury and hopefully he’ll come back.
“But it is how long is a piece of string at the minute with the injury.
“If he recovers from his injury and gets himself fit then it will look like the problem will be solved.
“Until then I need someone and I need someone now.
“We have James Hurtley who is struggling with his hamstring.
“Matty Nebard has been covering for us and he’s struggling a little bit.
“On Tuesday we had to play a midfielder at centre-half in Tom Haigh who did brilliantly but it isn’t a long-term solution.”
