Athersley Rec’s dream of pulling off the miracle of staying in the Division was given a further boost as Jimmy Whitehead’s side beat Knaresborough Town 2-1 at Sheerien Park.

The Rec leaped off the bottom of the table after overturning a deficit.

Brad Walker’s goal was cancelled out by Josh Brown and Josh Allison won it for Athersley with three minutes left on the clock.

Leon Howarth and Mitch Dunne both grabbed braces as red hot Handsworth smashed Bottesford Town for five without reply at Olivers Mount.

James Oliver also netted for Handsworth who are now fourth. 

Goalkeeper Ben Townsend was also heroic for the Ambers as he saved a penalty at 2-0.

Maltby Main came from a goal behind to defeat Hemsworth Miners Welfare 4-1 at Muglet Lane.

Midfielder Sam Tingle put the Wells ahead in the 37th minute.

Maltby’s road to victory began with Jamie Austin’s equaliser six minutes later.

He placed Maltby in front on the hour.

The victory was then wrapped up by Johnathan Williams and Reggie Waud.

Thackley lost 3-0 at fancied Sherwood Colliery.

Albion Sports were beaten 1-0 at AFC Mansfield.

Penistone Church were drawing 1-1 at Silsden when it was abandoned after 25 minutes due to Nathan Keightley sustaining a head injury.
