North Ferriby manager Chris Bolder rued the abandonment at Maltby Main as it prevented some of his players being able to get much-needed game-time.
Bolder made sweeping changes to his starting eleven from the huge 1-0 defeat of Hallam, with Lewis Exall, Niall Tilsley, Louis Kirk, Rinalds Jurkstis, Danny Buttle and Jackson Jowett among the starters.
However, the floodlights lights opposite the main stand out went after just two minutes of play and the match was abandoned at 8.15pm as not all of them had come back on.
“We made seven changes to the starting line-up tonight and in the side we had players returning from injury, players returning from suspension and players who we have signed recently,” Bolder told Non League Yorkshire.
“We were hopeful of getting good minutes into them and continuing the competition for places leading up to an important game on Saturday (at Armthorpe Welfare).
“(The abandonment is) one of those things that can’t be helped and it is not ideal.
“These things happen and it has happened to us at our place.
“You are hopeful it is just a simple trip issue but unfortunately after giving it time, one of the corners (light) wouldn’t come back on.”
Maltby manager Louis Axcell was equally gutted.
“Its just disappointing because you don’t want games getting abandoned but there’s not anything more we could have,” he said.
“I’m more disappointed for Ferriby and their players, management and supporters because they have travelled a long way for nothing.”
