Step 7 clubs hoping to win promotion to Step 6 for the 2021/22 season have until the 31st December 2021 to apply to be considered.
Nothing major has changed in the rules so ambitious clubs will have to finish in the top five in their respective league and meet the ground grading requirements to give themselves a chance.
Wakefield AFC from the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League are one club who will definitely applying.
Humber Premier League giants Beverley Town are expected to throw their hat into the ring.
The pair are likely to be joined by a number of Nottinghamshire-based sides whose grounds have been up to standard for some time.
One extract from the FA’s rules for Step 7 promotions, contains this important section:
“To be considered for promotion a club must finish in 1st position in their Feeder League competition at the conclusion of the current season.
“If a club finishing in 1st position does not wish to be considered for promotion, or fails the entry criteria, then a club finishing in 2nd position may be considered.
“If the club in 2nd does not seek promotion, or fails to meet the entry criteria, then clubs down to 5th position may be considered for promotion provided that they meet the appropriate entry criteria.
“Clubs finishing below 5th position MAY NOT be considered for promotion and, ordinarily, only ONE club will be promoted from each Feeder League competition.”
