Young Guiseley stopper Oliver Brackenbury answered Roy Mason’s SOS call for a goalkeeper at Steeton.
Mason was forced to search high and low across Yorkshire for an emergency goalkeeper after Stuart Cross broke his finger last week.
It is not the first time this season where Mason has forced an injury crisis on the goalkeeping front.
Brackenbury, who was an unused substitute for Hemsworth Miners Welfare when they drew with Barton Town in August, made his debut in the stunning 5-2 win at local rivals Campion and will be with Steeton for a while.
“I know Dave Currie well and he has been good in recommending Oliver to us,” Mason said.
“We have a good relationship with Guiseley – you look at the side today and Kayle Price, Ben Darkins and Luke Baldwin have all been with Guiseley at some point in their careers.
“It is a good opportunity for Oliver to come in and get some experience of senior football.
”He’s done really well (against Steeton)., especially considering he has come in and not known any of his team-mates until 1.30pm.”
Brackenbury was Guiseley’s goalkeeper during the club’s solid run in the FA Youth Cup this season.
