York City have signed Cameroonian centre-back Maxim Kouogun who was playing for League of Ireland side Shelbourne.
York snapped up the defender after a successful trial last week.
Kouogun is egilbible to play straightaway and could be involved in the FA Trophy fourth round tie at Slough Town on Saturday.
He has previously played extensively in Ireland for the likes of UCD, Warrenpoint and Waterford.
He has been on the books of Harrogate Town and Wealdstone in this country.
