Captain Dave Syers is in caretaker charge of Farsley Celtic for tomorrow’s tough trip to Brackley Town.

Syers has been thrown into the breach following the club’s board’s decision to sack Neil Ross on Thursday.

Ross, who replaced Adam Lakeland in late October, enjoyed a couple of positive results early doors.

But Farsley have lost six on the spin in the league and numerous senior players have left recently.

Farsley say a “announcement on a permanent First Team Manager will then be made in due course”.

The former Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers has been back playing for Farsley for a few years having played for the ‘old club’ during the ill-fated 2009/10 National North season which saw administrators Mazars pull the plug in March 2010.

Syers had been player of the season for Farsley who under Neil Parsley had clawed back the ten point deduction for entering administration and been on the brink of securing safety.

His performances that season earned him his move to Bradford.
