Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Round-Up (1)
Danny Edwards enjoyed a dream Knaresborough Town debut as he struck the opener as Rob Hunter’s side stunned promotion-chasing Eccleshill United in an outstanding 3-1 win at Manse Lane.
Their first win in over a month and fine performances eases any nerves over the table.
It took 17 minutes for Edwards, who has left Nostell Miners Welfare for Knaresborough, to open his account.
His close associate and new strike-partner Sean Hunter teed him up and he fired home from the edge of the penalty area.
An own goal from Craig Hall enabled Eccleshill to draw level in the 55th minute.
Parity didn’t last long as Tom Dugdale crossed for Brad Walker to head home.
Dugdale then sealed the win late-on as he rounded the Eccleshill goalkeeper after latching onto Edwards’ flick-on.
The result did third-placed Garforth Town a huge favour as the gap on second-placed Eccleshill is down to three points as the Miners capitalised by winning 2-0 at Goole AFC.
Charlie Marshall scored both goals – once again proving that Goole is a happy hunting ground for him.
The first was a free kick – the second was a tap-in after a brilliant run from Joe Colley.
Kieran Ryan’s goal strengthened Penistone Church’s hold on their top five position.
Ryan nodded in James Young’s corner in the 1-0 win over Bottesford Town.
Silsden lost 2-1 to Winterton Rangers at home.
The league’s top goal-scorer Jack Normanton scored for Silsden.
