Super-sub Alex Rippon hit the sensational winner as Parkgate won 5-4 in remarkable circumstances to end leaders Hallam’s 11-game unbeaten run.
Parkgate had led 3-1 at one stage but ended up being 4-3 down going into the last few minutes until they staged an unforgettable comeback to snatch all three points.
The epic encounter, played out in terrible conditions and in front of over 600 people, began with Iren Wilson placing Craig Denton’s Hallam ahead in the tenth minute
Brandon Bagley equalised before former Stocksbridge Park Steels striker Tom Whiting netted twice either side of half-time to put Andy Dawson’s Parkgate in control.
Over an 18 minute period after the hour mark, Hallam turned the game on its head.
Wilson brought them back into it before Liam Royles scored at the back-post to equalise.
Royles scored again with ten minutes to give Hallam the lead.
The home side almost sealed as Wilson had a shot cleared off-the-line.
As the 90 mark came, Jake Bancroft thought he had snatched the headlines as Parkgate’s hero as he equalised with a 35-yard thunderbolt.
But they didn’t settle for a point and former Handsworth attacker Rippon raced through deep into injury-time to spark scenes of jubilation and steal all three points for the visitors.
North Ferriby took full advantage of Hallam’s slip up by winning 1-0 against Dronfield Town.
Danny East’s 11th minute edged Ferriby to a win that moves them within three points of Hallam.
Glasshoughton Welfare drew 0-0 at Ollerton Town.
Veteran stopper Mark Bower played in goal for Glasshoughton who had another goalkeeper crisis this week.
