Luke Forgione wants Worsbrough Bridge to claim a top ten finish.
Following the 5-0 defeat at Selby Town at the weekend, their status as dark horses for the play-offs appear gone.
Worsbrough are currently ninth and Forgione hopes his men can end the campaign on a strong note.
“We never were a play-offs team being realistic,” Forgione told Non League Yorkshire.
“The chance was there and you have to stride for it and push for it but we’re not the fifth best team in the league or in the top five.
“The rest of the season is about these lads continuing to improve and learn and make sure we don’t keep getting beat by big margins – i.e. when you’re losing make sure it isn’t three, four or five.
“If we finished in the top ten it would be a great season for Worsbrough.
“We have won 14 games and I’ve looked at it and historically the club has won 15 games or more in a season nine times in 40 years.
“We’re on the verge of that so it is a great season to date but the most frustrating thing is we’re Jekyll and Hyde.
“We’re either very good or very poor.
“From the position we are currently in now we would be disappointed if we didn’t get in the top ten as we have been in it all season.
“At the moment we’re just inconsistent so I don’t know where it is going to take us.”
Worsbrough’s form has been up and down since the end of October and Forgione is most frustrated by some of the larger defeats.
“For me it is a recurring theme that we keep talking about and that’s mentality and character,” he said.
“We concede goals and everyone will know in the league that ‘if you score one or two against Worsbrough the floodgates open’.
“I think that comes from the youth we have got.
“We can’t go and replace people because of the budget, the lads have got to get better and work to get better and learn from experience.
“It is frustrating for us because we want to do well.”
