Northern Premier League Round-Up
Division One East
Player/assistant manager Leon Mettam’s last minute goal was the difference as Frickley Athletic claimed a huge 2-1 win at basement side Pickering Town.
The stakes were huge for both sides and the three points lift Frickley up to 14th – two points above the relegation play-off spot.
Joshua Brown’s first half penalty eased any tension for Frickley and Mettam doubled the lead as the game drew to a close.
An own goal from Nathan Whitehead gave Pickering some very faint hope.
Ten man Pontefract Collieries were beaten 2-1 by Craig Parry’s Worksop Town in controversial circumstances at Beechnut Lane.
Ponte went ahead through Jack Lazenby’s penalty after Joe Lumsden had been felled.
Referee Wayne Cooper then made himself an unpopular after sending off Jimmy Williams before Liam Hardy equalised from the penalty spot.
The Colls’ hearts were broken in the last minute when Ben Tomlinson scored.
Liversedge drew 0-0 at Stockton Town – captain Jack Stockdill was sent off late-on for two bookable offences.
Brighouse Town were undone by three late goals in the 3-0 defeat to leaders Marske United.
Tadcaster Albion and Stocksbridge Park Steels shared the points in the 1-1 draw.
Donald Chimalilo scored for Tad while Josh Nodder converted a penalty for the Steels.
