Pontefract boss pledges long-term future to club

NPL Division One East

The man for the future: Pontefract Collieries manager Craig Rouse

Craig Rouse has pledged his long-term commitment to Pontefract Collieries after signing an initial 18-month deal.

His management team have also signed the same agreements and the commitments includes an option to extend it.

Although the league campaign has been difficult, Rouse’s first campaign in control has been a big success due to the FA Cup fourth qualifying battle with FC Halifax Town.

The first game brought a record crowd to Beechnut Lane and by taking Halifax back to The Shay, the financial rewards for the club increased.

Home attendances have also hit unheard of averages – a far cry from the 50 people who watched Ponte during 2008 when Rouse first arrived as a player under Simon Houghton.
